Meet the Makers Behind Solstice Studio

Solstice Studio runs out of a single room above a tailoring shop on Church Street, where four people cut, sample, and finish every piece the brand sells. There is no factory, no minimum order quantity to hit, and — by design — no fabric that was made specifically for them.
"We only work with what already exists," says founder Reha Iyer. "Every roll we buy was originally cut for another brand's order and never used. Once it's gone, that specific print or weight of fabric is gone for good, which is why nothing gets restocked exactly the same way twice."
That constraint shapes everything downstream. A design that works well on one deadstock roll might need to change entirely for the next, since the studio never knows in advance what fabric will turn up. The team has learned to design in silhouettes first and let the available material dictate color and print.
It also means buying from Solstice Studio is closer to buying from a small run of one-offs than a seasonal collection — which is exactly the point. "We'd rather make four hundred pieces we're proud of than four thousand we're not," Reha says.
